All about the Microsoft Student Partners India Summit 2020 held at Le Meridien Hotel , New Delhi.
What are the Microsoft Student Partners?
It is global program ,sponsored by Microsoft to sponsor, guide and mentor students studying subjects related to technology. MSPs are student leaders, and are empowered to build Microsoft communities in their campuses.
Students at college or university level can apply to be a Microsoft student partner. If accepted, MSPs are assumed to share the knowledge and technical skills among the student and build a community around them.
Me as an MSP
I applied for the Student Partner program ,last year in September and in January , I got the acceptance. I was happy to get the acceptance mail and knew that the journey as a MSP will be nice and thrilling. This visit to the MSP India Summit 2020 was my first action as a Student Partner. And it was an awesome experience.
9 am to 10 am
We arrived at the venue at around 9 am in the morning. we were welcomed with big banners .Registrations were done and we were given our kits for the event ,afterwards breakfast was served. The place was well decorated for the event , everyone was in a good mood. So we began to socialise , Student Partners had come from various parts of the nation and it was a nice experience to interact with so many people. We began to exchange phone numbers and add each other on LinkedIn. I should point out that , many of the MSPs had come from far away parts of the country to attend the summit and they had all high hopes towards this event. Maybe it was networking, maybe it was to create more connections ,maybe it was to gain knowledge. But , there was one thing we all shared and will continue to share, the strength of a community. Most the MSPs are natural leaders and possess strong will and determination. This makes them different from other Developers.
The Talks
Pablo Veramendi , the global MSP program head had come to India to be present with us at the time of the summit. He gave us a brief introduction about himself and his career. It was inspiring. There were also sessions by Paras Pundir (The Community Guy), Arkodyuti Saha, Vivek Sridhar, Pragati and Abhishek.
The Takeaways
The Microsoft mission is to “Empower every person and every Organisation on the planet to achieve more.” This ideology makes its programs directed to well being and empowering people. As a part of this ideology, the Microsoft Student Partners program was started. MSPs are the representatives of this program and they try to drive the local community for good.
Microsoft provides technology for improving modern life, to uplift the workplace, develops business applications, works towards implementation of cloud and has made contributions towards Data Science and AI.
Also, we must always keep in mind, the moral code of conduct. Values like Integrity, Respect and Accountability must be held in high regard.
The Food
Well, will appreciate the people for the food they provided. Breakfast had both Indian and Continental options , with tea , coffee , cookies , cakes and many more.
The buffet lunch had lots of delicacies and we filled out plates , as the items were so delicious. Veg and non-veg options were both there.
In the evening we were again given tea, coffee and other snacks. Overall the food was a nice experience.
Interacting with other MSPs
Among the best parts of the event was to get to know MSPs from all across the nation. They all had different experiences and all had something to share ,express or say. Such a gathering of MSPs makes us understand , how much we can grow ,develop and prosper as a community.
A large number of them were from Delhi itself , showing that the program has been received well in the National Capital. The MSPs were fun, aspiring and innovative. They have the zeal to know and use technology for the betterment of lives. The mission (of Microsoft and MSP program) is to empower every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more. In this way , we can create a better world.
Final Words
The event proved to be gateway to a new journey , atleast for me , and now I know that , I have yet to learn a lot and understand. Hope to grow as an individual.
